The latest generation of Radamec DARAD monitor and alarm system has recently been fitted to Southampton based Hanson Aggregates dredger Arco Dart, replacing the aging Racal Decca system.
The fleet management had found it increasingly difficult to get spares and service for the aging Racal Decca ‘Isis’ system and selected a drop-in replacement system from Radamec. Radamec System Engineers surveyed the vessel equipment and obtained the existing alarm system list. Following a discussion with the fleet management and ship’s personnel to finalise the details of any new requirements, the drop-in replacement system was created and delivered in 12 weeks.
During a scheduled dry-dock for service and repairs in Milford Haven, Radamec engineers were able to remove the old alarm system, install the new system and commission it within the 10 days dry-dock period, avoiding any additional downtime for the busy vessel.
Hanson ships superintendent Aitken Hunter said he made the decision to choose Radamec, as not only were they competitively priced, but also offered the best technical and after sales support package. Supported from their Berkshire base, the in-house service team can offer the potential for having an engineer dockside in the vessel’s operational area in a matter of only a few hours.
